Timaya, Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa State has made one true revelation about the new Nigerian Artistes and their type of music today.
He said that the new generation of musicians in the country is very happy people, which makes their songwriting skills far better than the singers of his time.
The hitmaker of ‘Dem Mama’ and ‘Ukwu’ insisted that young artistes “Are better songwriters than us, for me o, I think they are…”
Timaya gave an instance that back then, it was the parents that would carry their children to school holding hands to safely guide them, adding that once the parents grow old, the children would have to start holding their hands to guide them to hospitals and other engagements.
He likened the above scenario to that of Nigeria’s contemporary musicians in that even though they seem young, there are things the old ones can learn from them.
For new doors to open in an artiste career, he hinted that the old musicians do not have to claim that what the elders see while sitting down, the younger generation cannot see while standing up.
He stressed that anyone claiming to be old in the game would remain in one place without progressing if they are not willing to change.
