In a bittersweet moment at the BET Awards, Quavo and Offset jointly paid tribute to their late Migos bandmate, Takeoff, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year.
As the audience gave a standing ovation, Quavo and Offset took the stage to perform a poignant rendition of one of Takeoff’s favourite tracks.
The crowd could feel the love and pain, but also the powerful energy of their camaraderie.
Quavo shared some words of heartfelt appreciation, praising Takeoff’s contributions to their music and their brotherhood.
He also mentioned the strength from Takeoff that helped him and Offset to get back together. “We lost a piece of our family,” Quavo said.
“But we’re going to keep his memory alive. We couldn’t have made it through this without each other. We’re in this together.”
Offset added, “We’ve got a whole community of people who love us and support us. We couldn’t be more thankful. We’re gonna see this through and make sure our brother is never forgotten.”
The BET Awards ceremony was filled with performances and speeches remembering Takeoff, with all performers taking a moment to honour his legacy, ensuring that he will always be remembered as an essential part of the music industry.
