A few hours after some gunmen suspected to be men of the Nigerian Army reportedly invaded his Ibadan residence, Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has suspended the proposed Mega rally slated for Lagos State.
Igboho had earlier insisted on going ahead with the rally despite security threats and warnings against the rally; he had informed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, to mobilise officers to protect the agitators.
Meanwhile, during an interview with BBC, Igboho said he had suspended the rally. The activist claimed that those who invaded his home were unknown men in military uniform.
He described the invasion of his Ibadan residence as shocking, noting that his activism is basically for the safety of his people against attack from the hands of killer herders.
Igboho accused Fulani bandits of killing and raping his family, adding that the government had refused to do the right thing to defend his people.
