Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, its chapter at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, JOSTUM, is lamenting over the lies, unfulfilled promises, among other schemings by the Federal Government in meeting their initial agreements.
With all said and done, the group is now considering the possibility of going on strike as the decision would be deliberated during its National Executive Council, NEC meeting slated for this weekend.
They pressed that the government carry out the pledges made in the recent past, noting that the Union is tired of the theatrics and failed promises and meetings all amounting to nothing.
ASUU Urges Govt to Fulfil Promise
Meanwhile, Professor Simon Ejembi, ASUU Chairman in JOSTUM, presented a statement to newsmen in Makurdi yesterday, where he stated the need for government to fulfil their pledges.
According to the statement, if the promises are met, it will avert the possibilities of an impending academic closure, urging them to “stop these seemingly elusive promises and become courageous enough to honour its agreement with the union to save the university system for the sake of the Nigerian child.”
