The Senate has summoned the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami over the need to implement the resolutions regarding security relating to the mandate of his ministry.
It was gathered that the Senate mandated its Committees on Legislative Compliance and Communications to invite Pantami.
The decision to invite Pantami was reached in a resolution which followed the consideration of a motion on the spate of growing insecurity in Nigeria.
During Wednesday’s plenary, the lawmaker Representing Taraba South in the National Assembly, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha noted that the rate of insecurity in Nigeria has reached a melting point.

Bwacha, who referred to Order 42 and 52 of the Senate Rules said the insecurity in the country has manifested in the armed robbery, kidnapping, assassination, banditry, and other criminal activities in Nigeria.
The lawmaker condemned the recent assassination of Nasarawa State APC Chairman and the abduction of a Chinese in his community.
Bwacha further bemoaned the complicity of officials of state saddled with the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens but compromised in the process.
According to the lawmaker, bandits, terrorists negotiate for ransom using telephones and getting away with it.
