The Nigerian music industry has seen a lot of music artists and we just have to ask about the whereabout of some of these Nigerian music artists.
Many songs have been released for our listening pleasures and some of these songs, we couldn’t forget to relate with their lyrics and sounds but the artists are nowhere to be seen in recent time. As we one-season wonder in football, we also have such in the music industry.
Kudos to the Nigerian music artists who have been consistent for years and hasn’t quit. Those who have made good songs for us too deserves a mention even if they’ve been missing in action for some time or have quit the game.

Here are some selected Nigerian music artists in the music industry that we have missed their sounds for a while. They are listed in no particular order;

- Bouqui: Not much has been heard from one of Nigeria’s foremost female rapper, Bouqui. She blessed us with songs such as ‘Morile’, ‘Molejo’, ‘Love you forever’ and so on in the past but have been out of the music scene for a while. Who knows if she has been consistent, she could have given rappers such as Nicki Minaj a run for her money?
- Mo Cheddah: Modupe-Oreoluwa Olateru-Olagbegi popularly known as Mo’Cheddah is another music sensation we’ve missed. The Nigerian female rapper and singer gave us jams such as ‘Destinambari’, ‘Tori Olorun’, and so on. Not much has been heard from the former Knighthouse signee since getting married in 2018.
- Konga: Back in those days, Nigerian music lovers were served to jams from the Nigerian version of Busta Rhymes. He served us with songs such as ‘Baby Konga’, ‘Agbawo’, ‘Sare Kabakaba’ and so on but little has been heard about the artist today.

- W4: Another musical artist out of the music industry for so long is W4. He gave us hits such as ‘Kontrol’, ‘Solo’, and so on and was relevant for some time. W4 was an associate act with the likes of 2baba, Sound Sultan, and so on but have been missing for too long these days. Who knows if he has hanged his mic? Lol!
- Danny Young: Nigerian singer, Danny Young was in the news a few years ago when he sued Tiwa Savage for copyright infringement over his 2009 hit single ‘Oju Tiwon’ which was used in ‘One’ by the music diva without the expressed consent of Danny Young. The ‘Omo Lepa’ crooner has been missing in action for many years now and just have to make this list of missing music artists.
- Olu Maintain: Mr Olu as he is fondly called is one of the veterans in the Nigerian music industry. He was a member of the defunct Maintain group that is made up of Tolu Ogunniyi (Tolu Maintain), and Adeboye Bammeke (Big Bamo). Not much has been heard from the music star that took the Nigerian music industry with storm with his hit song ‘Yahooze’. We have surely missed Olu Maintain.
