A member of the House of Representative representing the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Shina Peller has lent his voice to the calls for either the restructuring or scrapping of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.
In a tweet, the lawmaker, who opined that the police unit called SARS has done more harm than good said the squad should be disbanded. He noted that Nigerians can’t be quiet and watch the squad cause more havoc.
According to Peller, kidnappers and ritualist are marauding freely whilst SARS looks away, brutalizing and killing innocent citizens.
Earlier, a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former Senator, Ben Murray Bruce and some others have called for an urgent restructuring of the squad adding that there is the need for sanity among the operatives of the police unit.
Meanwhile, many Nigerian celebrities have taken to the social media platform to raise an eyebrow over what they described as the dangers the SARS operatives are posing to the society given the way and manner they operate.
Singer, Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, David Adedeji, popularly known as Davido, Olamide Adedeji, Tekno, Tiwa Savage among many others have expressed concerns over how innocent Nigerians have been killed by some SARS operatives.
