Following the directive given by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS should be dissolved nationwide, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the dissolution as a victory for Nigerian youths.
Everyevery.ng had earlier reported that the IGP on Sunday, October 11 gave the directive while addressing journalist given the various allegations leveled against SARS operatives ( read more here).
Speaking on the directive, Sanwo-Olu, who noted that the #EndSARS protests showed the beauty of democracy, however, commended the youths for being peaceful during the protests.
The governor further stated that the government meant business about the dissolution of SARS as he also urged the youth not to doubt the government’s sincerity as regards dissolving the squad.
Meanwhile, he said that the youth had his full support on their demand adding that he had spoken with the Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the State Security Services on the way forward.
