It’s no longer news that Brazilian superstar footballer and former FIFA world best player, Gaucho Ronaldinho has been arrested by Paraguayan authorities for allegedly entering the country with falsified documents. Along with his brother and agent, he was taken in handcuffs to a courthouse in Paraguay on the 7th of March, 2020.
The pictures of Ronaldinho in a Paraguayan prison have since surfaced on the internet. But do you know the Brazilian has once experienced prison life? Ronaldinho was in a movie in 2016 movie by Jean Claude Van Damme titled ‘’Kickboxer: The Retaliation’’
In the movie, the ever-smiling superstar appeared alongside fellow athlete Mike Tyson in a prison where Ronaldinho’s character is named ‘Ronaldo’, a martial arts expert who specializes in kicking football. He was tasked along with Mike Tyson in teaching the kickboxer, Moussi, to fight for his life in Thailand.
The Porto-Alegre-born football star acted behind the bars in a movie and it has now become a reality. The irony of life here is that Ronaldinho entered the prison at a time the Paraguayan prison authority are staging a futsal tournament (indoor football tournament).
194 inmates who are split into ten different teams would be involved in the tournament that takes place every six months. The Brazilian is a master of the round leather game including the street & beach version of it. Time will tell if the former PSG and AC Milan star would participate in the futsal tournament or turn up to watch the tournament in his second time in prison.
