Armed robbers have reportedly robbed some officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, carrying out their duties in the premises of Manila Hotel at Ikorodu, in Lagos State.
However, the heavily armed men also took the life of one security man mounting the gate to the hotel, as his sad passing was confirmed by the police spokesman for Lagos Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
Speaking further, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, hinted that the JAMB Officials have been taken to a more safer location to continue their work.
According to him, “One Prof. Odunsi, an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, who lodged at the hotel was robbed of his two phones, one HP Laptop and N20,000 cash.”
The officer further revealed that the robbery also affected two female officials of JAMB, who lodged at the hotel, adding that their jewelry and phones were also stolen at the hotel.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson revealed that the hoodlums shot the hotel’s gateman, simply identified as Peter, 40, who attempted to prevent them from escaping.
He explained that the gateman was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he later died, adding that the corpse hqad been deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary.
