American actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killed a crew member on a movie set in New Mexico. According to a US law enforcement officer, the accidental discharge injured the director and killed a cinematographer. The accident happened in the movie “Rust” set with Baldwin playing the lead role in the western film.
42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and movie director Joel Souza were shot by the firearm Baldwin accidentally discharged in the middle of a movie shoot. Hutchins, airlifted by helicopter to the hospital, was pronounced dead at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Souza was transported by an ambulance and is in a stable condition after receiving treatments.

The 63-year-old Alec Baldwin featured in movies like ‘Mission Impossible’ and voiced in the animation movie ‘Boss Baby’ was seen in tears after the incident. This is not the first time accidents with the use of prop guns will be happening on set. The martial art legend Bruce Lee’s son, Brandon Lee, died while shooting “The Crow”. He was hit by a prop gun which was supposed to shoot blank.
No charges have been filed, as there will be an investigation into what led to the discharge.
