Things have been taken up a notch in a unique case, as a pregnant officer challenges dismissal and takes things another step further in what is shaping up to be an enthralling case.
Pregnant officer challenges dismissal after getting the boot for getting pregnant.
Omolola Olajide, a corporal who was recently dismissed from the force for getting pregnant out of wedlock, has decided to take legal steps, filing a suit for an order to reinstate her into the police force.
Ms Olajide was attached to the Iye-Ekiti Police Division, Ekiti State Police Command, and was dismissed because her pregnancy was said to have violated Section 127 of the Police Act.

She filed a complaint on February 3 at the National Industrial Court in Akure, Ondo State, and The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Police Service Commission (PSC) are the three defendants sued in the suit.
Her “purported dismissal” was discriminatory in her contention and violated the Nigerian Constitution’s various provisions and the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights.’
The suit also seeks an order to nullify section 127 of the Police Act.
