Head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City, Pope Francis has revealed a plague worse than COVID-19 in his message on Sunday, September 6, 2020.
Pope Francis took his time to describe gossiping as a ”plague worse than Covid” in his message at the Vatican City. He didn’t give specifics during his weekly blessing, but went on at some length to say the the devil is the ”biggest gossiper” who is seeking to divide the church with lies.
In his words, ‘‘Please brothers and sisters, let’s try to not gossip. Gossip is a plague worse than COVID. Worse. Let’s make a big effort: No gossiping!’‘
He made this known after an elaborate Gospel passage about the need to correct others privately when they do something wrong. The Catholic hierarchy has long relied on this ”fraternal correction” among priests and bishops to correct them when they err without airing problems in the public.
The novel coronavirus so far has claimed the lives of over 881,000 people worldwide since it’s spread in Wu Han City, China.
