After days of public outrage and speculation surrounding the arrest of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels’ brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has finally released an official statement clarifying the circumstances behind his detention.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest was lawful, procedural, and based on a formal petition alleging multiple criminal offences. Adeh explained that Samuel’s arrest followed his failure to respond to several police invitations concerning a petition filed against him and three others.
“On October 28, 2025, the FCT Metro Area Command received a petition against Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu and three others over alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying,” Adeh said in a statement issued on Friday. “Despite several invitations, he did not show up. He was later arrested in Lagos with a valid court warrant and taken to Abuja for further investigation.”
The police further disclosed that upon completion of investigations, Samuel was charged to court on November 6, 2025, for the listed offences. The court, according to Adeh, has ordered his remand pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
This clarification comes amid heavy criticism and online uproar, particularly after Regina Daniels accused law enforcement authorities of bias and alleged that her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, influenced the arrest. The actress had taken to social media to defend her brother, insisting he was innocent of all accusations.
However, the FCT Police Command maintained that due process was followed from start to finish, stressing its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and the rule of law.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to upholding justice without fear or favor,” Adeh concluded.
The development marks a significant twist in the ongoing saga between Regina Daniels, her family, and Senator Ned Nwoko — a situation that continues to draw widespread public attention and debate across the country.
