An angry mob set a police vehicle on fire on Wednesday in Warri, the Delta State capital.
The action followed the killing of a mother and child by some officers on the run.
The incident occurred at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Junction.
How did the Police get dragged into this allegation?
The fleeing operatives were chasing suspected ‘Yahoo boys’ when they hit a mother and her child.
The victims died on the spot.
Residents of the area warned the force authorities to apprehend the personnel.
The Delta State Police Command, in its response, has said cops from the Ebrumede Divisional Headquarters were not involved in the unfortunate incident that led to the death of the woman and her baby on Wednesday in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The force asserted in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya.

According to the Police, “The accident involved a Mercedes Tipper with Reg. No. WWR 425 ZR loaded with granite, a Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. AKD 403 FM and a Tricycle Reg. No. yet unknown, all moving in the same direction and Police vehicle was never involved.
“Two passengers conveyed by the Tricycle a woman and a baby girl died on the spot and other passengers were injured.”
“The Command also wishes to inform the general public that neither Operation Delta Hawk nor Ebrumede patrol vehicle was involved as speculated earlier.”
