The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has condemned the fresh attacks on the convoy of Borno State governor, Babangana Zulum by insurgents resulting in the killing of some of the security operatives attached to the governor.
In a statement signed by the national publicity secretary of the party, the PDP noted that the repeated attacks on the governor as well as the rising wave of terrorist attacks reinforce apprehensions of security compromises and lapses, hence the need to immediately rejig the nation’s security architecture.
The party raised concerns over what it described as the frightening situation where insurgents now have the audacity of repeating an attack on the convoy of a state governor.
However, the PDP restated the call to President Muhamadu Buhari to heed the call by well-meaning Nigerians, including the two chambers of the National Assembly to immediately rejig the nation’s security architecture by replacing his Service Chiefs with fresh hands to effectively confront the security challenges facing the nation.
Meanwhile, the party commiserated with Governor Zulum as well as the families of the victims of the incessant attacks and also urged the governor not to be deterred.
Also, the party saluted the Nigerian troops, who are fighting insurgency as it urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and alert.
