A woman has reportedly died in Lagos University Teaching Hospital after her complications. could not be treated because of COVID-19 policies in place. According to the story, Fatima Senam Amouzou was being treated for immuno-chemotherapy susceptible Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (mass) at the lower pelvic, lying behind the womb and upper vagina prior to the pandemic. However, because of the changes in day to day patient management and admission polices, she was not properly attended to.

Reportedly, she showed up at the hospital complaining of acute fatigue, chest and abdominal pain, and severe breathlessness. She later passed on after she was not attended to.
Reacting to the report, the hospital confirmed that their emergency response section is almost closed to reduce contact. They also confirmed that the staff of the hospital are divided into two groups amongst departments. This they said is to make provision for the staff needed to treat coronavirus patients.
The family of the deceased have since claimed Fatima’s remains and have proceeded with the burial arrangement.
