According to reports, the Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer had on Friday extended the stay-home order put in place to help prevent the spread of the virus.
The same day the stay-at-home order was extended, the state reported 1,350 additional cases of the new Coronavirus as the state death total eclipsed 3,805.
Over 600 Inmates Test Positive For Coronavirus
With Friday’s update, Michigan has reported a total of 36,641 coronavirus cases as it also reported 108 additional deaths that officials are attributing to the virus.
In her announcement, Whitmer attributed the progress made to social distancing and staying home.
“As we’ve seen our numbers begin to plateau over the last week, we know that it’s because Michiganders are doing their part and staying home and staying safe,” Whitmer said.
“I want to reiterate how important it is that we continue to do that. It’s doing the right thing and is paying off.”
However, Friday marks the second straight day the state has reported more than 1,000 new cases after seeing a short lull in new reports.
