Ondo Resident Doctors
Spokes Person of the Ondo State Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, Dr Taiwa Olagbe, has described the sack of the resident doctors at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, (UNIMETH), a joke.
The announcement of the Ondo resident doctors in UNIMETH sack has caused a lot of steers in the state medical society with several reactions from different quarters.
The letter announcing the sack of the Ondo State resident doctors also hinted on the postponement of the institution residency training program from August 1, 2020, while directing them to continue their program in other institutions.
There are insinuations that the move by the state government has to do with the recent industrial action embarked upon the by the Ondo State resident doctors last week.
The group of doctors were demanding the payment of 50 per cent COVID-19, adequate provision of PPE and payment of outstanding arrears from September 2019 to May 2020.
According to the letter which was signed by Director of Administration of UNIMETH, Adeeyo Babatunde, the move was to allow the hospital channel its strength towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Despite this reason, Dr Olagbe has described the move as a joke that can not hold water.
