The Police Command in Ogun State has announced the arrest of two armed robbers who carry out their activities in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State on the Kara long bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The robbers were caught in the act of robbing unsuspecting motorists of their vehicle on the bridge according to the police public relations officer of the Ogun state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi who disclosed this while talking to newsmen in the state on Sunday.
The suspects in the robbery according to the PPRO are Isaac Kyegh and Ibrahim Nura who are from Benue state and Kebbi state respectively. They both reside in Kara, Isheri of Ogun state.
He said both suspects came out from under the bridge when they had sighted the motorists who were trying to fix their car that had developed a mechanical fault on the bridge. They attacked the victims with a knife and a cutlass to threaten them into giving in to their demands.
The police patrol team from the Warewa police division who frequently patrol on the bridge led by the DPO, Superintendent Afeniforo Folake spotted the men in the act and engaged both suspects in a chase after they tried to run on sighting the police officers, they were caught under the bridge where had been turned into a den for their operations.
Mr Oyeyemi said the commissioner of police in Ogun State, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered for the men to be immediately transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state for further investigation and prosecution.
