Winner of the recently conducted governorship elections in Edo state, Governor Godwin Obaseki has cleared the air over whether he would return to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Sallau Buhari, the Personal Assistant to President Buhari on Broadcast Media disclosed this in a tweet on Friday.
It was gathered that Obaseki, who met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday told State House correspondents that it would be immoral for him to return to the APC.
Following concerns that he might return to the APC, the governor, who met with the President alongside his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, their spouses and some lawmakers from Edo state described his visit to the Villa as a Thank You visit.
Also in a tweet, Obaseki confirmed that he paid a courtesy visit to President Buhari to appreciate him for his stance on a fair and peaceful governorship election in Edo State last Saturday.
He commended the President over his commitment to democratic ideals, which according to Obaseki was clearly demonstrated during the election.
You will recall that Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party was declared the winner of the September 19 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Before contesting under the platform of the PDP, he was a member of the APC, who left the party when the ruling party disqualified him from participating in its primary election.
