Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has defiled godfatherism tactics as he emerged winner of the Saturday, September 19 governorship elections in the state.
Obaseki, who won his second term in office secured victory with a high margin and a difference of 84,336 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday afternoon declared the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the winner of the governorship elections.
Obaseki defeated his closest Challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress with a sizeable margin with the final results from all LGAs showing that the number of accredited voters was 557443, the APC polled 223, 619, while the PDP polled 307, 955 votes.
