Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, has widely reduced the chances of his former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, in the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Election.
Without holding back his words, OBJ criticised his former vice president past performance as vice president, saying that he ‘made a mistake in the choice of his number two ahead of the 1999 Presidential Election.’
The comment felt strange because the Presidential Candidate of the PeoplesDemocratic Party, PDP, had in the past, reconciled all grievances with his former superior.
PDP Warns Obasanjo to Clarify Comment
And for the former President’s sudden negative remark regarding Atiku as a bad choice, the party’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Sen. Walid Jibril, who spoke on behalf of its members, said the former President should clarify what he meant by that negative comment.
He pointed out the aspect where PDP has strong regards for OBJ, but mentioned that the situation might turn out disappointing if the remark he made points towards the present flag bearer of the opposition party.
