Olusegun Obasanjo, a former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has stressed that Nigeria needs a South-Eastern President to rule the nation come 2023.
He suggested that the option of having a leader from the aforementioned region, adding that it would guarantee a peaceful, justiciable, fairn and sustainable national development in the country.
The former President stated this while playing host to the Political Action Committee, PAC of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
As contained in a Press Statement issued to newsmen in Enugu yesterday by Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the ex-Nigerian leader hinted that at a time like this, what the country needs is a strong candidate from Southern part of the country.
Obasanjo gave a befitting welcome to the Ohanaeze delegation and commended the body for demanding for their rights to be part of the top leadership contenders in the 2023 presidential elections.

Those with the Ohanaeze delegation to the South-West comprised Ambassador (Prof.) George Obiozor, the President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide; Ambassador Okey Emuchay, Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo; Chief Nnia Nwodo, former President-General; Prince Gary Igariwey, former President-General; Professor Anya O Anya; Chief S N Okeke; and Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the National Publicity Secretary.
