African Union’s Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has announced the appointment of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as High Representative for the Horn of Africa region.
According to Mahamat, the African Union appointed Obasanjo to promote security, peace, foster political dialogue and stability all over the Horn of Africa region.
He revealed that the High Representative would intensify engagements with stakeholders and all relevant political actors in the Africa region to entrench durable peace.
The Chairperson thanked Obasanjo for accepting what he described as a strategic political assignment in the collective interest of the Union.
He expressed optimism that the former President would bring rich political experience and impeccable credentials of keen commitment to the Union.
Obasanjo Bags New Appointment
You will recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan recently announced his inauguration as the Chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda.
Jonathan, who made this known on his official Facebook page, revealed that he performed his first official function as the Chancellor at the 10th Graduation Ceremony of the University in Kampala, Uganda.
Meanwhile, he congratulated the new graduands and urged them to deploy their knowledge towards building a community of reformers, positively impacting people and improving society.
Before his recent inauguration as a Vice-Chancellor, Jonathan had bagged appointment as chairman of the International Summit Council for Peace (read more here).
