The newly formed police unit, Special Weapons And Tactics, SWAT has commenced training.
It was gathered that the unit began its training with over 400 personnel at the Police Mobile College in Eggon, Nasarawa State.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi went to inspect the training exercise.
Dingyadi said he was happy with the progress the personnel was making and charged them to be good role models of the society.
He further expressed optimism that the SWAT personnel will be dedicated and committed mobile police officers.
According to him, the responsibility of the SWAT personnel as a replacement to SARS is to face the challenges of armed robbery and other crimes across the country.
However, the personnel have been undergoing training for weeks at the college.
