Nigerian Police has cleared Nigerian popular musician, Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as Dbanj of the alleged rape case raised against him by Seyitan Babatayo.
It could be recalled, one Ms Seyitan Babatayo publicly accused Dbanj of raping her in a hotel in Lagos a couple of years ago. She made the announcement on social media and that got the internet on fire.
Dbanj soon addressed the situation via an open letter and then sued Ms Seyitan for image laundering/character assasination.
Things became worse as Dbanj was said to have used his fame and power to get the Nigerian Police to arrest his accuser. Seyitan’s social media accounts were also tampered with as her previous posts were deleted and the page used to promote Dbanj’s yet-to-be-released.
The issue got to the Inspector General of Police table who asked for proper and thorough investigation by his men.
Dbanj through his lawyer, Mike Ozhekome (SAN), also sued Ms Seyitan Babatayo a billion naira for trying to tarnish the image of the music superstar.
The Nigerian Police has finally cleared Dbanj after fully carrying out an investigation. Ms. Seyitan has also pleaded and withdrew her petition against the music artist.
