Mixed reactions have begun to trail an important announcement, as the Nigerian Military confirms operations in Imo State.
Panic gripped people in Imo State yesterday as they fearfully watched the very unusual activity that was going on in the skies. They watched with apprehension as different kinds of military-grade aircraft flew through the skies.
The fear must have skyrocketed when they heard the sound of explosions as the aircrafts carried out an obvious air bombardment on the city. Social media was agog with various reports of what people suspected was happening in Imo State.
Nigerian Military Confirms Operation In Imo State after widespread fear
The 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army of the Nigerian Military confirms operation in Orsu Local Government Area of the State and neighbouring communities. The Brigade is in Obinze, near Owerri, the Imo State Capital.
It has been announced as a joint military and Police operation following a supposed intelligence report of the existence and establishment of illegal camps built by suspected Eastern Security Network members, ESN. The ESN is set up by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.

The Public Relations Officer of the brigade, Lieutenant Babatunde Zubairu, said that a group of security operatives, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Airforce and the Police stormed these camps to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
He stressed that the civilians in the area are not in any way being harassed by the operation as the military is employing the proper rules of engagement.
