Nigerian Idol, one of Nigeria’s popular music shows, is set to return on our tv screens as they premier the 7th season of the show.
It was also revealed that singer Simioluwa Kosoko, known by her stage name, Simi, and Dapo Oyebanjo, fondly called D’banj, would be judges alongside Obi Asika, which would premiere on February 6, 2022.
In a statement, the executive head, content and west Africa channels at multichoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, introduced the new judges while noting that they could not possibly think of a better trio to be the judges of season 7 Obi Asika, D’Banj and Simi.
She said, “The three of them combined bring decades worth of experience in the music and entertainment business, as well as individual mastery of their crafts. We do not doubt that they will keep the viewers entertained in what will be a spectacular season!“

Expressing his excitement about being a judge on the Nigerian idols show, D’banj stated that he was not in Nigeria when he found out he would be a judge for the music reality show, and he could not control his excitement.
He added, “I’m coming in with my own strategy, so viewers should expect a bang.“
On the other hand, Simi affirmed that she had always loved the idea of being a judge, and she believes it is fun.
Talking about how she intends to judge, she said, “I plan to be very honest and have fun and hopefully gain inspiration from those that come on the show.“
Obi Asika, a returning judge, added that he would be looking forward to seeing unique talents and new faces this season.
He further affirmed that he is excited to work with Simi and D’banj to search for talents. He said, “I’m also excited to work with the rest of the judges this season, and I will be very fair and real to every contestant, just like I was last year.“
