The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai revealed that they have arrested about 1,429 Boko Haram insurgents in the last two months since he physically joined operations in the North East. He revealed this while speaking with news correspondents after a briefing session with the President. He added that about 116 accessories have also been arrested.
Buratai also commended the efforts of the troops under the period of review adding that the intelligence corps of the army, the DSS, and the Civilian Joint Task Force were all involved in the recorded success.

The COAS reminded the correspondents that he is only in Abuja to brief the President of the results so far adding that he just returned from the “Theater of War”. He confirmed that President Buhari is impressed with the result so far adding that Mr President has been getting reports even before his visit.

Buratai reassured Nigerians of the commitment of the Army is crushing the Boko Haram Group. He confirmed also that his presence in the North East has helped in boosting the morale of the troops.
He went ahead to commend the loyal men of the Nigerian Army and thanked them for their effort. He mentioned that he will be returning to be with them soon.
