A new strange disease is currently causing panic in Bauchi State with victims of the disease landing on hospital beds.
The disease that has not been identified is said to be causing the legs of its victims to swell ridiculously.
According to the Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, (BASPHCDA), Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, about 15 residents of Bara village in Kirfi local government area of the state have been affected.
While speaking with journalists, he added that out of these 15 victims, 10 of them had been hospitalised.
Mohammed said; “We are suspecting onchocerciasis or lymphatic filariasis, considering that the local government area is one of the areas that has had cases of tropical diseases in the past. We will swing into action to curb the spread after our preliminary investigation.”
The BASPHCDA Executive Chairman also hinted that he had directed the Disease Control Department of the agency to ensure adequate information are gathered in order to find out the cause of the new strange disease.
