The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, Director General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu has raised an alarm over growing rapid test kits black market in the country.
The scarcity of the rapid test kits the whole world, with international communities and health organisations donating and selling to countries in need
Meanwhile, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 also raised concerns over increasing deaths caused by the rejection of patients in the country’s hospitals.
The Presidential Task Force Chairman on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha at a press conference in Abuja lamented that despite the reprimand of the Federal Ministry of Health, hospitals were still rejecting non COVID-19 patients.
It was reported that presently, Nigeria has 8,733 COVID 19 patients and 112 isolation centres in 35 states, and the Federal Capital Territory.
While there are 29 laboratories, where COVID 19 is being tested.
It attributed this to the refusal of health institution, including Federal, to treat patients, for fear of COVID -19.
Moreover, newsmen reported on Wednesday that a man identified as Joel had lost his life after he had purportedly refused treatment by the Isolo General Hospital in Lagos over fear of being a COVID-19 patient.
