The Lagos state judicial panel has given a list of people killed and declared missing after the Lekki Toll Gate shooting on October 20, 20202, during the #EndSARS protest.
In its 309-page report, which has been made public, the Judicial panel listed about 48 names as casualties of the October 20, 2020, Lekki tollgate shooting.
According to the panel, it was alleged and confirmed that the Nigerian soldiers’ accumulated bullet shells on the night of October 20 and police officers supported in the morning of October 21 to pick bullet shells.
The panel also noted that several unidentified bodies were removed by security agencies and Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit and transferred to different hospital mortuaries in Lagos state.
Names of Lekki Toll Gate Massacre Victims Listed
According to the report, Olalekan Sanusi, one of the protesters shot and taken for dead, escaped and narrated his ordeal. The victim stated that there were 11 corpses in the van where he was placed and presumed dead.
Another witness, Miss Dabira Ayuku, also confirmed the above affirming that she saw about seven dead bodies placed in one of the military trucks at the Lekki Toll Gate on the night of October 20, 2020.
The report also stated that the ambulances being denied access to the location by soldiers was inhumane and could have assisted in prompt treatment of some victims.
“The panel finds the cases of death or injured protesters as credible and uncontroverted.” The report said
