Senator Rochas Okorocha, a former Imo State Governor, has reached out to President Muhammadu Buhari following the N2.4billion fraud charges raised against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Okorocha alleged that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is interested in considering his case and addressing any irregularities attached to the charges.
Yesterday in Abuja, the former Imo State Governor had to visit the President at the Presidential Villa where he tabled the matter before Buhari with the hopes of having the EFCC drop the charges he described as unsubstantial and politically motivated.
While responding to questions from journalists in Abuja, the former Governor told the state house correspondents that the President resolved to take up his case as it is merely a strategy instigated by the current Government of Imo State to damage his gubernatorial ambition.
However, recall that the charges against the presidential hopeful, the current lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District, was alleged to have embezzled N2.4 billion through connivance with some companies and individuals.
