Nigerian military has announced that it killed 17 bandits and wounded several others in a raid carried out in Kaduna. This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche.
He revealed that the military carried out the raid around Mashigi Galbi, Damba community, and Kabarasha villages, all in Gwagwada District of Chikun Local Government Area of the state. He added that three buildings and a church were partially touched and a number of the bandits escaped with gunshots.
It could be recalled that Kaduna is among the states in Nigeria that battle with the problems of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminalities. Governor Nasir El-rufai of the state has once vowed to terminate banditry in the state.
According to him, the raid was a joint operation that comprises military personnel from Operations Thunder Strike and Whirl Punch, with air enforcement from the Air Component of Operation Gama Aiki.
Enenche has stated that no civilian casualty was recorded and calm has been restored in the affected areas. He also gave assurance that the military will keep working indefatigably to entrench security and peace.
