Mercy Eke winner of the 2019 BBNaija reality TV who and her boyfriend Ike Onyema are defiantly in love as far as they have both been on the show and till now.
While their love grows to something close to a forever happy after scenario, they have a lot of hurdles to jump, and one of them is family, their involvement, contributions, bias and opinions.
Sometimes these opinions are not always soughed, but they give them anyway when you ask why they say it is because they love and care. In the case of Mercy and Ike, how do we describe it?
When Mercy and Ike announced that they would be starting a reality show, we never expected that they would be allowing us this deep into their family, so let us count.
Since the show started, we have met Mercy’s sister named Promise and his brother Chigozie.
Also, we were able to see Ike’s aunties Cleopatra and Carol when they attended Mercy’s house warming party, remember they came with the famous Igbo delicacy “Ugba and stockfish”, his cousin Pascal has also featured on the show.
These few family members have been able to say one or two things about Mercy and Ike’s relationship, so let us take their contributions one after the other.
Mercy’s Family Member
Promise is Mercy’s elder sister who has been a significant support system for Mercy; you can imagine the level of their love and intimacy before she can bring her on the show.
On the past episodes of the show, Mercy consulted Promise to seek advice on Ike moving in with her, and she gave a hell of advice.
She said “ He can’t move in with you, don’t let anyone push you into doing what you don’t want to do. Maybe his aunty is mounting pressure on you, don’t marry Ike out of pity.”
Many people raised eyebrows about her comment about her sister marrying Ike out of pity.
The questions ranged from “why will she pity Ike? Are they not in love? Among many others.
Promise also told her sister that she had not seen enough seriousness in Ike that would encourage her to advise Mercy to marry him.
Seriously? Why would she say that? Most people have seen that thesis two love themselves, but cam promise say the same?
On today’s edition of What Next, after she gave Ike assurance that his sweetheart will not be taken from him despite the pictures and videos of her with another man in London trending on social media, she said something else when her sister returned to Nigeria.
She told Mercy that if Ike’s family members would be monitoring her sister’s steps and restricting her, she will not support the relationship any longer.
The question is, how much influence does she have over this love affairs?
Though Mercy’s brother Chogozie was there, he hardly said anything for or against the relationship, he was just calm and all smiling.
Ike’s Family
Ike’s aunty Cleopatra seem so close to Mercy, and she has shown how much love she has for her with the gifts and show of support. At a point on the show, Mercy reported him to his aunty saying he seems to have a lady in Imo State.
The issue that would have caused trouble was handled effortlessly after Cleopatra said Ike knows if he brings another lady home, the whole Onyema’s family will not accept her.
So that brought down the tension after she helped question Ike on who the lady in question was.
However, Ike’s cousin Pascal is another piece of one to chew in this relationship.
When these two lovers had issues about Mercy’s trip to London and the trending video, he did not give his cousin a good new.
He told him he deserves better stressing that he would get someone better than Mercy, nowhere is it. Our loverly also agreed with him by saying that Mercy hurts him so much.
Ike also added that his family members want him to make financial gains from his exposure on BBNaija. Pascal has also planned to hook his cousin up with a lady who is ready to invest huge money in him.
The family members of these power couple sure have the rights to contribute to their lives, but how much can they or should they go? We love them and will like to see them walking down the aisle. They sure look good together.
