Ninety-two-year-old Nguyen Van Chien, who has not cut his hair for 80 years has revealed that he will die if he chops his locks which have dreadlocks five yards long.
The man, who hails from the southern Mekong Delta region of Vietnam practises a faith that prescribes leaving everything that a person is born with untouched.
According to him, he dare not change anything about the hair, not even combing it adding that he only nurture, cover it in a scarf to keep it dry and clean and looking nice.
It was gathered that Chien, who worships nine powers and seven gods, believes it was his calling to grow his hair.
Man Who Has Not Cut His Hair For 80 Years
Meanwhile, Chien said he was required to trim the hair when at school but left after third grade and decided never to cut, comb or wash the hair again.
He further recalled that his hair was black, thick and strong adding that he combed and untangled it to make it smooth but decided not to touch it again after he heard the calling from the divine power.
Chien follows a faith known as Dua, the coconut religion that was named after its founder who claimed he survived only on coconuts to retain his vitality.
Meanwhile, Dua is banned and categorized as a false belief in Vietnam.
