The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf has reacted to the agitation by some practitioners in the Hotel and Tourism sector in the state.
According to Uzamat, the agitation was due to the newly introduced Register-To-Open policy that was introduced by the state Government.
She explained that the unavailability of robust data on the hotel and tourism practitioners in the State was one of the challenges faced while the government was planning to provide palliatives for genuine hoteliers and practitioners in the entertainment sector.
Uzamat, therefore, urged all stakeholders to visit the registration portal, lasgsafetyreg.com and provide the required information.
She added that those concerned can also contact the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture at Alausa, Ikeja for further clarification.

In the meantime, the State Government has renewed calls for stimulating action to Conserve Biological Diversity towards preserving and protecting the earth.
Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), in an over-night enforcement exercise, removed some illegal structures around Government Public Schools at Mile 2, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tunji Bello said the State will explore the linkage between tourism and biological diversity.
According to him, the linkage will look into preserving two major wetlands which are Yaafin Wetland, Badagry and Itoikin Wetland, Epe.
He further noted that the wetlands are expected to serve as tourist centres in the nearest future.
The commissioner, therefore, encouraged everyone as stakeholders in the environment to appreciate the importance and the beauty of nature while heeding the call to protect the earth.
