In reaction to the second report released by the Cable Network News, CNN, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has accused the Media Organization of desperation.
The Minister made the allegation while reacting to CNN’s report on the Lekki toll plaza shootings on October 20 adding that the reports lacked credible sources.
According to Mohammed, CNN contravenes the basic principles of journalism which include fairness, and balance noting that the media Organization did the story without contacting the Federal Government for its side.
Speaking on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, the Minister said the CNN relied on second and third parties narratives as he also accused the media outlet of spreading fake news.

He opined that the federal government has received an acknowledgement on the letter addressed to Jonathan Hawkins, VP (Communications), CNN Centre, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Meanwhile, the CNN, in its second report stated that it had obtained the video and subsequently analysed its content.
The fresh report also shows the Commander, 81 Division, Brig. Gen Ahmed Taiwo, admitting before the judicial panel that his men indeed took live ammunition to the tollgate.
