Governor Sanwo-Olu declares 3-day lockdown in Lagos
The governor of Lagos state, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu has declared an immediate 3-day lockdown and suspension of all state activities in the wake of the recent killing at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos last night.
The governor has an official press briefing in a live broadcast on Wednesday morning where he addressed the situation on ground. He also said he would cater to the medical needs of the injured Nigerian sand categorically said no fatalities were resulting from the military shooting last night despite the plethora of video clips from protesters saying and showing otherwise.
In his statement to the press today, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that owing to the sensitivity of the matter at hand, he was launching a three-day suspension of all state activities except for security personnel. He also ordered the lowering of the national flag for the said three days to honour the protests. He said,
“Fellow Lagosians, in the sensitive mood and in the mood of the nation at this time, I have directed further that we have an immediate suspension of all state activities for the next three days, except those that are connected to the security activities in the state and the management of the current issues.
“I have also directed that at all public buildings within our reach that we lower the flag for the next three days as a mark of respect and solidarity for the protests.”
