A jailbreak incident has occurred in Kogi State, where three persons have also been reported dead in the attack.
The police station cited in Yagba-West Local Government Area, LGA of the state, has been reportedly set ablaze by some hoodlums.
According to the KogiState Police Command’s statement issued to journalists in the state yesterday, the attack on the prison facility took place earlier this week with serious havoc wreaked on the station.
Immediately after the attack on the station facility, the Kogi State Police revealed that an armed robbery attack took place within three banks in Odo-Ere and Egbe towns, right in their LGAs.
Jailbreak Incident Escalates
It was learnt that the officers, after that, launched a search to recover the stolen properties as well as apprehend the perpetrators of the robbery.
After a successful turnout, the officers took the robbers to the station, but the community residents preferred to commit jungle justice and lynch the criminals.
On getting to the station, a mob that was not satisfied with the arrest decided to take the laws into their hands and attacked the station, leading to Inspector Bamisaye Gbenga’s death, while PC Sunday Alechenu sustained injuries.
The police spokesperson revealed that a male and a female were injured while dispersing the mob, and both died in the hospital receiving treatment.
