Is Buhari truly in control is the glaring question that needs an answer. “Also the letter could never have been written without the approval of the president. The NSA must have consulted the president before writing the letter. This leaves everyone confused.”
When individuals, officials and organs of government are at each other’s throats, the only explanation is that the leader is not in control.
From NSA’s letter, it was obvious that the Chief of Staff is overstepping his boundaries without the approval of president Buhari. If it was the president that ordered him to do what he did, the NSA would have kept quiet.
Also the letter could never have been written without the approval of the president. The NSA must have consulted the president before writing the letter. This leaves everyone confused.
Why didn’t president Buhari resolve the matter amicably by calling all concerned to order?
Amidst all racours, the president is unable to fire anyone. In the face of glaring security failure, president Buhari cannot replace the security chiefs. This is not the attribute of an effective leader.
Obasanjo will certainly deal with this kind of situation decisively. The same with Jonathan who fired his security chiefs. Yar’adua would certainly take bold and decisive action. Once there is public outcry to this viral level, late Yar’adua would have taken action.
No need mentioning Abacha here. Everyone knows what he could have done.
Babangida once had security meeting and fired all security chiefs afterwards. No one can accuse Maradona of inaction.
