A few days after news about the arrest of Raymond Igbalode, popularly known as Hushpuppi went viral, International Police (INTERPOL) Nigeria, has confirmed the arrest of the socialite in Dubai.
While confirming his arrest, Commissioner of Police (CP) INTERPOL, Garba Umar said It is true that Hushpuppi was arrested by the INTERPOL.
According to Garba, the agency is currently working on bringing him to Nigeria to face charges of fraud.
He added that some of the offences he was accused of were committed in Nigeria and he has to answer for them.
Garba further revealed that Hushpuppi has other accomplices in Nigeria adding that Interpol was working on their trial.
It was gathered that Hushpuppi and his accomplices in Nigeria, Dubai and other countries allegedly defrauded the United States of America of 100 million dollars COVID-19 Relief Funds meant for unemployed Americans.
Interpol To Extradite Hushpuppi
Meanwhile, controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has taken to her Twitter handle to react to the news about the planned extradition of Hushpuppi describing the news as fake.
According to Olunloyo, Hushpuppi is no longer a Nigerian citizen, hence he cannot be extradited to Nigeria.
