The National Commissioner supervising Edo, Rivers and Bayelsa States, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu has presented Certificates of Return to winners of the Edo State Governorship election, Mr Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Mr Philip Shaibu at INEC’s Office, Benin.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC made this known in a tweet on Tuesday, Septemeber 22, two days after the Saturday governorship elections in Edo State.
Earlier, governor Obaseki has showered encomium on President Muhammadu Buhari for his neutrality by asking the electoral body and the Inspector-General of Police to do their job accordingly.
Meanwhile, the secretariat of the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has opened to receive petitions.
According to the Secretary of the tribunal, Mr Sunday Martins, the High Court Complex in Benin, had been designated as the venue of the exercise.
He added that President of Court of Appeal of Nigeria Hon. Justice M. B Dongban Mensem established the Tribunal Secretariat for aggrieved candidates and political parties to file their petition.
