Having polled the highest votes during the Saturday, October 10 governorship elections in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the winner of the elections.
According to the result released by the Chief Returning Officer, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka, Akeredolu won with 292,830 votes.
Meanwhile, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, who polled 195,791 votes won only in Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore council areas while the Zenith Labour Party candidate and the deputy governor Hon. Agboola Ajayi won none of the Local Government Areas in the state.
The Councils won by Akeredolu are, Owo, Ose, Idanre, Okitipupa, Irele, Ondo West, Ondo East, Odigbo, Akoko South West, Akoko South-East, Akoko North East, Akoko North West, Ile-Oluji/ Okeigbo.
It was gathered that the total number of registered voters is 70,001, Accredited voters- 24,270 Total Valid votes – 23,300, rejected Votes – 868, Total votes cast- 24,168 and there was no cancellation of votes.
