The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has on Monday handed over to Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Mu’azu.
According to the INEC, Mu’azu is to handle the affairs of the Commission pending the confirmation of the re-appointed INEC Chair at the Commission’s Head Quarters in Abuja.
Earlier, President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Professor Mahmood the INEC Chairman.
The reappointment was contained in a statement by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on media and publicity to President Buhari.
Meanwhile, President Buhari said he reappointed Mahmood in line with Section 154 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
You will recall that Mahmood was first appointed INEC chairman in November 2015.
