Being optimistic is a whole new level to dealing with life challenges. It is a continuous and constant process of reminding yourself that there are better things to enjoy in life than focusing on the downside. Have you ever encountered someone and wondered how they have so much faith in the future and how they manage to keep being happy most of the time? Well, you are not alone.
Being optimistic means having a positive attitude towards the unknown future. Having the ability to rain drops and turn it into rainbow.
Optimism is actually a result of constant practice and constantly reminding yourself that you have to be happy and hopeful despite all.
In the kind of living environment we have now, it is very difficult to focus on the positive side of things. It takes a great deal of energy to achieve that kind of positive focus. In the midst of all of these ups and downs, it is not also impossible to find the people who have decided to focus on the good.
If you are still confused if you are optimistic or not, well having some of these following traits will help convince you if you are optimistic or on the other side of the train.
- Showing gratitude: gratitude for little things is the first way to being happy. People who are optimistic express appreciation for their blessings at all times. They are more grateful for the little wins and success and troubles and temptations. They are grateful for family, friends, good health, even ill health and all other things that make life beautiful.
- Surrounding yourself with positive people: have you looked at your circle of friends and buddies? How happy are they and how positive are they towards life’s challenges? If you find that more than 90% of the people around you are optimistic, then you might as well be one of them.
- Forgiving spirit: you can only give what you have. Whatever fills your heart is what you send out to the people you encounter. If you want to give joy and positivity, you cannot do so without forgiveness. It takes a lot of strength to forgive. Don’t get it wrong, forgiveness is difficult. It is better said than done. It is actually easier to be angry than to ignore the wrong doings of people around us. However, if you find that you always forgive and you are not afraid to be offended, then, you might as well count yourself lucky for having that rare ability.
- Loving your life and all that comes with it: being optimistic means loving everything about you and not wanting to change anything. Optimistic people accept challenges that are thrown to their way. They are passionate about everything in their life and they do not take any experience for granted.
- Focus on the bright side: you want to know what it feels like to enjoy a. giant cup of sunshine while forgetting what harm it does to your skin, then you need to see an optimistic person. They savour the moment as they remind themselves that the moments will never come back.
- Open mindedness: optimistic people are fully aware that they cannot control what happens in their daily lives. Experiencing those moments is all they can get out of the situations. Being open minded is a challenge within itself– because as mentioned before, it is so easy to hold grudges and to remain in an angry state of mind. But to free your mind from anything negative, to take a step back and look at things in a more positive perspective it allows you to come to terms with what you never really knew before. What makes an optimistic person so unique is their ability to be open minded. It isn’t easy but it is worth it.
