Some gunmen have kidnapped a traditional ruler in Plateau State in the early hours of Sunday 26, 2021, right after invading his palace and destroying properties worth a lot.
The ruler, Charles Mato Dakat, hails from the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and is the paramount ruler in Gindiri chiefdom.
Lawmaker Speaks on Gunmen Kidnapping Monarch
Confirming his abduction to the public is the Lawmaker representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Bala Fwangje, who said the monarch was taken amidst the chaos created by the abductors.
He said security operatives were deployed and combing the bushes to search for the kidnapped monarch.
The Lawmaker described the incident as unfortunate, adding that aside from speaking to a security man to get the complete narration of the event, another paramount ruler in the region, Elder Mishkaham Mwaghavul of Mwaghavul nation who also confirmed to me what happened.
He noted that Operation SAFE HAVEN in the state at Gyambus had been mobilised to the area and are on the kidnappers’ trail.
