Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has announced new guidelines for citizens and residents of the state as part of measures to stop the further spread of Coronavirus, COVID-19.
The governor in a post on his Twitter handle said the new guidelines would take effect from 30th April.
The tweet reads, “Effective, Thursday, 30th April, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Delta State Public Health Law; the Quarantine Act; and the Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulation, all citizens and residents of Delta State are to adhere to the following guidelines:
All restaurants and canteens are to operate a strict ‘take-away only’ policy; while hotels will be allowed to open (with in-room dining). However, hotel restaurants, bars and night clubs must remain closed till further notice.

The governor said Transport services would be allowed to operate noting that the airports in the state remained closed until further notice.
“Our airports will remain closed to passenger traffic until further notice.
Transport services will be allowed to operate. However, they must not exceed the following numbers of passengers: Kekes — 2 passengers at the back; Taxis —1 passenger in front and two at the back; and 16/18 Seater Busses — 10 to 12 passengers maximum.
He disclosed his plan to meet with religious leaders in the state.
Finally, on Thursday, 30th April, to chart the way forward for our places of worship, I shall be meeting with our religious leaders to discuss all possible options. However, all religious crusades/conventions remain banned until further notice.
According to the governor, the new guidelines would be enforced by state security agencies to keep people safe.
