The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has accused the Nigerian Bar Association of embracing injustice and breaching the rule of fair hearing.
El-Rufai said this in reaction to the withdrawal of the invitation earlier extended to him by the association as one of the speakers at the 60th Annual General Conference of the NBA.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai accused the NBA of withdrawing the invitation without hearing his side of the story.
According to the statement, the governor accused the NBA of blatant disregard for the rule of law.
El-Rufai Accuses NBA Of Injustice
El-Rufai said the statements in the petition were defamatory, insisting that he has taken several actions on security issues both on institutional and technological fronts to address the abnormality of violent strife in the state.
Everyevery.ng had earlier reported that the National Executive Council of the NBA decided to withdraw the invitation extended to the governor following a petition accusing El-Rufai of gross abuse of human rights.
The petition was forwarded to the council by Open Bar Initiative (OBI) and also mobilized almost 5000 lawyers to sign the petition sighting the spate of killings in Southern Kaduna.
